[link]Sakuga is the term for scenes in anime that are particularly fluid, expressive and action-oriented. Basically, when the frame rate suddenly shoots up in an OVA, series or film and your eyes are treated to an amazing fight sequence or opening. For many of these scenes, one animator is responsible for every single keyframe. It's a shame the work of these masters isn't recognized more.
The video showcases some work by the bigger names (like Yutaka Nakamura, my favorite), and explains the animation process and its history. A lot of these artists have built on each others work to create the look of anime today.
